The Individual Needs Department is able to support children with moderate learning difficulties.
The department works closely with class teachers to identify those children who would benefit from more intensive support. Individual education plans are devised, setting clear and achievable targets that are worked towards in class and, where appropriate, during individual or small group lessons outside the main classroom. The staff communicate closely with parents in working towards targets and reviewing progress in learning.
In addition, the Department screens pupils at key developmental stages and provides specific programmes to boost attainment in literacy and numeracy for those children who would benefit.
