The British International School of Stockholm believes in encouraging children to consider those who are less than themselves. The school run a charity programme, providing sustained and regular support for both local and selected international charities. Money is raised through both school and community events, such as bake sales, quiz nights and concerts. There are plenty of opportunities for both students and parents to get involved with these events.

One of the important local charities we support here at BISS is The Foundation for the Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital. The money raised works to make the stay in hospital for very sick children as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The Foundation has provided facilities such as a library, a swimming pool, a sensory experience room, multi-media equipment and toys. Our school has a strong relationship with the Foundation through our ongoing contributions to their projects.

In addition, the school and school community regularly fund raise in response to world emergencies.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a UK-based organisation that distributes festive wrapped shoe boxes filled with small gifts for children, such as toys, toiletries, pens and paper. This well-established organisation now distributes such boxes to over 100 war-torn or developing countries worldwide, offering a gesture of hope and friendship to the world’s children who are in need most. Children who contribute towards a box feel a great sense of satisfaction and empathy, knowing that their gift will reach a disadvantaged child, somewhere, in time for Christmas.
