Dress code

School uniform is not the norm in Sweden and the British International School of Stockholm does not have a compulsory daily uniform. However, we encourage children to take a pride in their appearance and to wear clean, smart clothes suitable for the school environment and the range of activities taking place.

All children are required to have the school sweatshirt with the logo on it and to wear this at official school functions and on trips. In addition, each child needs to have a sports shirt and swimming cap in their allocated House colours. All these items are available from the school office.

It is essential that the children wear sensible shoes, for both indoor and outdoor wear, as certain types of footwear can be dangerous. Children go out for break in most weather – sun, rain or snow – so they need to have outdoor clothing appropriate to the Swedish climate: all-in-one ski-suits are worn by most children during winter and are widely available in Stockholm.
